Tarani Close Quarters (TCQ) Tri-Angle fixed blade series.

A quality everyday carry (EDC) carry knife needs to be both lightweight and durable. If you plan on carrying it on your person, then you want something that is readily accessible and comfortable to wear. It should take up minimal real estate on your body and be durable enough to withstand hard use. One such set of blades designed by subject matter expert (SME) Steve Tarani and built by master knife smith Tim Kell is the Tarani Close Quarters (TCQ) Tri-Angle fixed blade series.

Designed specifically to meet growing industry demands for a robust EDC close quarter fixed blade, the TCQ Tri-angle series delivers over-the-top quality and functionality with a unique three-point rapid deployment options carry system. Should exigent circumstances require rapid access, deployment and performance, the TCQ Tri-angle fixed blade series is the right tool for the job.

All four single-edged working blades in this series provide sufficient heft and durability to meet the demands of traditional hard use. Paramount to this unique and custom knife series is immediate access, positive grip and rapid deployment from three completely different grip-approach hand positions.

The four blade geometries comprising this EDC knife line are built to meet or exceed performance requirements regardless of hand size, blade orientation and carry position.

TCQ Tri-Angle Spear Point

The term “Spear Point” is applied to any blade geometry of a knife designed in the classical spear-shaped configuration. It is similarly named after the formidable hand-held blades of antiquity utilized by the original Spartan warriors and ancient Roman legionnaires alike originally engineered for extreme hard use. A spear point configuration is identified by symmetric angles on both sides of center mass to include an equally disbursed center of gravity. The spearpoint of this Tarani/ T.Kell model is a single-edge blade geometry that delivers uncompromising performance in its everyday carry configuration.

TCQ Tri-Angle Yoroi Doshi

Steeped in tradition, the Yoroi Doshi, commonly referred to as a “Tanto” style, is one of the most rugged and deeply respected blade geometries in the industry. The Yoroi Doshi blade geometry is characterized by classically defining angles customarily supported by a chisel or beveled grind and thick blade. In ancient Japan, the term “Yoroi Doshi” translated to “body-armor piercing” describing that hard-use function for which it was originally designed. The Yoroi Doshi blade geometry of this Tarani/ T.Kell model is synonymous with optimal piercing capability and is noted for its unparalleled durability and performance.

TCQ Tri-Angle Ridge Back

A full angle on the top side of the blade tapering toward the point has the appearance of “dropping fully downward” – hence the name “Full Drop Point”. Full drop points were originally designed for better handling and control as hunting knives. When it comes to full drop points size does matter and the unique and purposefully oversized Ridge Back blade geometry of this Tarani/ T.Kell model is exponentially thicker than a traditional drop point which affords an EDC durability above and beyond that required of common use full-length drop points.

TCQ Tri-Angle Clip Point

Traditionally a Clip Point is a concave shape which curves slightly from about one-third the length of the blade tapering forward toward the tip of the blade. Traditionally utilized for thrusting and slashing, it allows maximum penetration due to a narrowed surface area and curved angle at the very tip fully supported by a center of gravity slightly farther back than a spear point. The clip point geometry of this Tarani/ T.Kell model is designed specifically for hard use and long-term durability.

SHEATH

Paramount to ready access and rapid deployment is blade position. The sheaths were designed to be as comfortable and lightweight as possible, They take up minimal real-estate on your body and are strong enough to hold the blade firmly in place.

Extremely versatile they can be mounted for left or right side either inside or outside the waistband. They are available in two configurations: a 45 degree fixed position and a multi-position model adjustable to 45, 60 and 90 degree angles which you can conveniently set yourself.

Clip Stability

The TCQ Tri-Angle Kydex sheaths reinforced clips are available in either 1.5” or 1.75” length based on belt thickness.
